I've caught a few on gulp soft plastics while bass fishing, and I've seen one hit a spinner bait like a freight train in like 2 feet of water. Never seen one caught with topwater though.

I've only caught one on the fly with top water. I think the popper hit the right spot at the right time. I also think that it could have be anything else thrown and the same strike would've happened. The popper hit the water, I gave one strip and the fight was on. It was a 3-4# channel cat on a 6wt rod. It was fun, but I was using a 16# leader so it really didn't take much playing of the fish. It made 2 good 50-70' runs, but after that it was over. I have caught a few other channels on baitfish patterns running up the side of the riffle. Nothing like the 12-15# hybrid stripers I was chasing. Totally different fight though and fun on the fly.

I caught one about 3 pounds on a Pop-R this year on Cedar Creek. It was a surprise.

I've caught multiple catfish on poppers. The catfish were busting the surface at Fork just after the sun was going down. I didn't know it was catsnuntil I hooked one. Others were chasing bait so much they would swim and hit the boat. It was pretty wild having them swim right into the boat.
