I'm going to Lake Fork this weekend. I have never fished the lake in November. Any advice would be great. I do not fish any tournments. Just looking for a pattern. I have never caught a bass in deep water. Thank you, John

This time of year, you should be able to catch fish shallow. Try jigs, chatterbaits, and blades on main lake points. You can fish relatively fast and cover water. Also, cranks and traps can be good too. Look for any points with grass. Usually, you can find grass by looking for coots.

If you find fish, you can slow down and throw a drop shot. I like the jig though.

And remember that Mark Stevenson caught a state record bass weighing over 17lbs in November. Although that was 1986, it's worth noting that he was fishing a jig if memory serves me right.

From the weather forcasts --a very strong weight - wind predicted to be 15-25

Wish I had some productive info haven't been out in while. But I would look for fishing schooled up 15-25ft and then maybe secondary points. I have heard there is some good grass growing now. Good luck

Go to a major creek or 2 and throw a jig in the creek channels, work the bends and any intersections of feeder creeks, roadbeds or points in the creeks really well.

I would also fish secondary points with a c-rig,t-rig,jig and crank bait in these same areas of the creeks.

Also, look for any bait fish in flats adjacent to these areas and you should find some fish. Try spinner baits, chatter baits, swim baits, and square billed crank baits in the shallow areas. I would also throw some sort of top water in those areas early and late in the day.

Last but not least I would hire a guide if your budget allows for it. Hiring a guide will give you a reference for future trips this time of year, plus all of the guides I have ever met are a blast to be with in a boat for a day.

Good Luck!!!
November - February are the best months on Fork, IMO

Thank you for advice. I think i need to check the weather. (windy) I have fished in the past in Little Caney around the golf course, Taylor Branch, and up in Glade. I think we will start aroud the golf course or should we go up north in Little Caney? Again. Thank you.

If you want to catch fish in deep water, use a Talon flutter spoon (either size) and fish the downwind side of deep points or humps in 25'-28', a good breeze will activate the fish. Look for them on your sonar, they will be stacked when you find them. If you don't see schools of fish looking erratic keep looking. If/when it gets too windy to stay in open water, go into a creek and do what Doug says.

I caught several in the 4-6 lb range last Friday and Monday as well as some big sand bass. Even the small fish will eat the big flutter spoon.
