He could have at least called me and said he couldn't get it back to me this week. That is just rude and I call it like I see it. Bart

It would be nice if people kept their word but that's not going to happen. Just remember the reason for stopping and charity in general. Its nice to be repaid but dont excpect it and you will never be disappointed.

I had a flat on the way to Fork last year and my spare was no good either. A guy stopped, loaned me his spare and gave me his number. I wasn't catching any fish in the tourney so I got off the lake at noon, drove to a different town and got my tires fixed. Then I called and asked what ramp his truck was at and had his spare back on his trailer before he was done fishing. That's the way it should be!

I've had the same exact thing happen to me. But I've also had strangers go out of their way to help me when I needed it so I'd do it again.

I have never given parts before, but I did pull over and give a guy a ride that wasnt even hitchin. I was on my way to Choke for the first time and we passed a broke down truck out in the middle of no where on I-59. 2 miles down the road I see a guy so it was a no brainer that it was him hoofin it. I pull over and my buddy is freakin out. The guy runs up and I asked if that was his truck and he repleid yes, tranny is gone in his best english. So he jumped in the bed and off we went, I told him to smack the bed when he wanted out. He did in gorgewest tx. Anyway we had 30 mins to prefish for our club tourney, had a 6,5,6. in 15 mins. This was our first trip to Choke, I won the 2 day tourney and he came in second place. I tend to think it was a good carma thing since all my trips back to choke canyon have been like going to Conroe. My buddy still gives me chit about picking up a stranger lol...

Well, my apology to Andrew for calling him a deadbeat. Someone on this forum read my post and contacted him. He passed his phone number to me. I called him and he said that he had lost all of my contact info. He said he had been working day and night with just a few hours sleep. He even offered to bring it by tonight. Told him that I will not be fishing until next weekend and asked him to just get it back to me before then. Regards, Bart

Someone that wants to defend those that take take take and are selfish is as bad or maybe even worse , than the dude that basically stole your wheel and tire.

A deadbeat is a deadbeat. Guy doesn't even have the decency to make a call to the OP and explain his actions or lack there of in this case.

Well I wasn't gonna say anything but since u guys are in a giving mood. My wife and I have good jobs, make a decent living, don't live in Kilgore, have a place on Fork, run a fairly new Champion 206. However I do need new electronics, with that being said, if I may, I need a new HDS-12 touch screen on the dash and say maybe a HDS-9 touch screen on the TM, if that is to much I could settle for a plain old HDS-8, it would be hard, but we all have to sacrifice something, sometimes right? if you see that this is a problem, I guess I could accept around 6500.00 that should cover the units, installation, gas and beer.

Thank you and E Pluribus Unum

Well I will add one to this. Friday we fished Monticello till 1pm then to Welch, 1 bass only. On the way home had a blowout and lost a tire and wheel ruined, the jack did not work! Stranded for ab our 10 min and a man showed up to help, "I dont have a jack but I'll get it" Well in about 10 min he showed up with a forklift that would lift an 18 wheeler, he lifted the whole boat up and helped us and would not take a dime, without him it might have been along night, there are some real angels out there for sure.

I never had that happen to me, never loaned out anything like that, but I blew and engine in Birch Creek on Fork a few years ago and had to troll back to Rainswood and while I was going to get my truck some guys rolled in wanting to load their rig, so when I pulled up to back up to the ramp I told them to go ahead and load because I was going to be a while, I had blown engine and was going to have to do it the hard way. They loaded their rig and then stayed to help me get mine on the trailer....I'll remember that the rest of my days.....good folks....
