 Can't get a GPS Fix on my Humminbird....

Just installed a Brand new 581i HD DI and i cant get a GPS fix whatsoever. Went to the lake today and yeah it was rough to say the least. I had the unit on the whole time and never did the gps connect. It shows in the menu that it is connected. But the gps related views do not work and they are set as visible.. Any idea's? Be back in a little while have to go teach the daughter Parallel Parking.

Did you install in-dash? Try updating it to the latest firmware or maybe reset to defaults. It shouldn't do that either way....

Go to VIEWS and turn on the GPS Diagnostic View and see what it shows it will be a "Bullseye" and should have satellite signal strength.
If not try restoring defaults and see if that helps. If not you'll probably need to call HB Customer Service 800-633-1468.

Where is the unit mounted? Since the unit does show that the gps is connected location could be a factor in what you are seeing on the screen. Is there anything metal overhead?
In the gps diagnostic screen what type of gps fix does the unit show that you have? The best fix type would be an enhanced
fix.

Nothing overhead. I have spent hours on the lake with it on. Humminbird says i need to send it to them and they will fix it.......Im pissed to say the least. I went with hbird because i heard they have good customer service.. Maybe thats because they have so many problems??

Things can happen...not a perfect world but I can assure you that Humminbird is lightning fast turn around. The faster you get it to them the faster they can return. Those that need customer service see turnaround including shipping in week...send it express shipping Humminbird returns express shipping. Normally in Eufuala ALabame less than a day or two.

My 798 that's mounted flush at the bow does the same except it will finally lock in but takes anywhere from 15 minutes to well over an hour. Once up its good until I shut the unit down at the end of the day. Any thoughts?

Restore the latest software is first step. If that doesn't help Humminbird needs to check the unit. Sounds like something is not correct with your 798c GPS Receiver.

It's frustrating when you have something new fail but keep in mind it was made by man. I have had plenty of the others fail as well.

I have the latest software on it and this unit has an internal GPS so no puck.
