What's this do to the fishing if they shut down. Those bass will trip out. Have they ever been in water colder than 80? Lol I have only been fishing it for two years, had the worst luck going to that lake so I steer clear.

This is the worst news I've heard in a while. Love that lake for winter fishing. Been going there for almost 30 years and it still produces.

Same here, Champ....sad, sad, sad.
Unclear to me if they are shutting the whole thing down or just the two units. It sounds like the former, which will change the lake completely. If the latter, it will just be like last year.

This is a good thing for the fish they will get bigger and maybe kick out some biguns like it did b4 they were generating. The bad part is the people that lose jobs out that way because of this

Sure is sad! Sure is sad for the people working the coal mine up the road as well. You can thank the liberals. They will ship coal from the north to fuel the remaining coal plants..... What since does that make. Sad for the fishery and sad for the economy. Do you think we are using less enegy these days? Supply and demand. I'll let you guess what will happen from this.

Agree, Matt. Without question the "sad" part is the loss of jobs. Our "sadness" at the potential loss of our January fishing hole doesn't even register on that scale.
Do note that this was an "economic decision" according to the article, though, not an environmental one. Rightly or wronly, this is about profits. This is a private equity owned operation, you know.

Man,I just went there yesterday and caught a bunch. Me and Champion 191 been going for almost 30 years. Many, many good memories made there. So sad for the people that will lose there jobs, especially in this economy. Prayers to them and their families.

I hope ERCOT is right. They sure screwed up last summer. I hope we don't have a harsh winter like we did a couple of years ago or we may not have lights. Just like many people did not that winter. The low natural gas prices is good and bad. This is why they are not building new plants. Plus Chesapeake one of the largest natural gas suppliers cut %50 of their production in the attempt to get the prices back up. I'm ok with getting rid of the coal plants as long as we have enough production ready in reserve incase of extreme temps high or low.
