I was looking at my pics from the last weekend and I noticed this carp's head was much greener than any of the other commons I caught. There are grassers in here too, so I'm wondering if it could be a hybrid or if its just an attribute of this common. Any thoughts why this one would have a green head?

has to do with sun exposure. I would guess, also I have seen common carp feed along side grass carp they are not eating the same thing but the commons are scarfing up snails, eggs, bugs and what not that the grassers "shake off" and the commons just feed on...

Or it could just be global warming.

Does it have barbels? I think grass carp look like commons but more streamlined and don't have barbels.

I would say it would be how much sun he got. Like a crappie when you put them on a stringer they get really dark.

Water Clarity/Quality and diet will affect color. That is a straight Common though.

Usually fish in shallow clear water will have very defined coloration and fish from deeper or darker water will have a washed out appearance. Was your fish in muddy water?

It was in relatively clear water for Houston. It was caught in shallow water next to a 15 ft. Channel. Here another common caught from the same spot for comparison.

^ This is a fish out of the Sabine River, where there is about 12" of visibility on a good day. It looks more washed out than yours.

I have one around here of a fish out of a Lake Palestine with about 3' of clarity near the dam. I think its just from where you got it.
