 I have three wires...

coming out of my new/used trolling motor I just bought. The thing is I'm not quite sure how to hook these wires up to a battery. I'm thinking one goes on the positive terminal along with a added switch and a inline fuse. The second wire I'm thinking hooks up to the negative terminal, but what about the third wire? What am I supposed to hook it up to? I will let you know this TM can be used as a 12v or a 24v and I would like to set it up as a 12V. Thanks for the help in advance I did not get a installation manual when I purchased the TM.

Three wire motors are 12/24V.
Red is positive and white is negative for 12V.
Black is negative for 24V.

how would you hook it up for 24volt only Run the red wire to the Positive, jumper wire from the negative to the positive to the 2nd battery, then negative wire to the TM
