Someone deploy the power pole! I think we are in a good spot! The heck with it. I think this will do. I hope everyone was ok when that happened.

Nothing against anyone who wants and runs a fast boat, and as congested as the lakes are today, I just prefer to be on the safer side. Just my 2 cents ...
+1 something you really have to consider these days.....especially around metro lakes....based on the traffic I see around here, based on the number of boats I see. I think bass boat traffic has actually declined somewhat because of fuel cost, but the pleasure boater traffic/jet skiers has actually increased.

Lying about speed is a "guy thing". Always expected. Never understand why I have to explain myself for enjoying going fast though. Yep, it is all fun: fishing, going fast...

I know the feeling. I was almost forced on top of a family in a small tri hull bass boat by someone in a ski boat that wasn't paying attention to what they were doing. I was lucky and cleared the tri hull and the bank by about 10 yards each. The guy in the tri hull ran me down a gave me what for, but he really should have gone after the guy in the ski boat. If he would have been paying attention to what was going on I wouldn't have had to take that manuever, it was either do what I did or hit the ski boat head on. I just sucked it up and went on.....

This. Is. Awesome.

I've owned 3 Rangers and none were fast for the power on the transom but they were not "lead sled" like so many people make them out to be.

My Allison with a 150 will go faster with less fuel than my 518 with a 200 but when you let off the gas and start fishing the Ranger was much more stable to fish out of.

I have a Triton 21 HP with a 250xs, yesterday on Amistad I hit 73.4, full tank of gas, live wells full and a full tourney load, two people, sure did not know that a Ranger would do that.

My new Z521 with 250 Pro XS, duel poles, livewells full, gas full, loaded with my partner and I hit 71.1 MPH this weekend. This boat is fun to drive! My last Ranger was a 521 VX, smooth stable, not a hint of chine walk. This boat trimmed up and aired out can be hand full at times, which I really like! 3/4 Trim and raise the jackplate a little is where it is the fastest. If you haven't driven a new Z boat, do it before you buy!

My Ranger is a 1983- 330v with 115 evinrude, It has NEVER had any major motor work " starter=plugs=water pumps" . garage kept. no jack up plates or any that "hot rod" stuff. Still ha the built in Flasher in the dash.
2 people, 15 gallons fuel, 3 batteries, 6 bottles water, 4 cans sardines, 1 onion, 1 lb rat cheese, 2 sleeves crackers, 1 roll toilet paper, and minner bucket GPS 43 mph and my ears start flapping. AND its PAID for, thats the best part owned it since we picked it up in Flippin Arkansas. December 83.

This ^ I just know going 75-80 mph helps you catch more fish...LMAO

Probably right to a certain extent, but I do not know one guy that has a 65mph boat that doesn't wish it would go 75mph. Speed is fun, so is fishing. In the end, it's all just a hobby anyway.

True, so true....

Bass fishermen by nature are competitive. Nothing wrong with that!

Some people do not realize that the Z520 and Z521 platforms are damn good in the performance area. Some just repeat what they have heard and think it applies to all Ranger models. Without question a lot of Ranger models are not the fastest on the water by any means but a couple of them as I listed above can and will break 70mph easily with a load.
Its just like people commenting that Rangers are heavy and I can tell you that while researching the brand against Skeeter which I love and owned at the time I was stunned to see the Iclass actually weigh more than the same size range Ranger across the board. Also some of their other models are lighter as well. I am sure if one spent the time to gather weights of all the brans I would think you would be suprised. Instead people just ususally repeat what they have heard and often it is not firsthand knowledge.
