I've thrown this question out on another thread but never got a clear ruling. Does anyone know if the Galveston Yacht Basin will be open to fish the sidewalk along the wall this year? Last fall we paid $10 to fish from sunup till sundown--very convenient and decent fishing. I'll be making my annual trip in 2 weeks and want to line up a few spots--any info is greatly appreciated.

Call the yacht basin office.
715 Holiday Drive North
Galveston, Texas 77550

The Marina
409.762.9689 ext 201

If you stand at the yacht basin and look due north and then to the west, you will see a white partially submerged sailboat.
That entire shoreline is free to fish, till you get to the park.
Take the 51st street exit off of broadway. Go straight past the college. At the second street light. Park, walk path to the water.
Happy fishing

@karnavor2--we tried wading the spot you speak of last year and didn't catch anything--way too crowded plus I use strictly artificials for flounder and the only ones I saw caught were on live bait. May try it again this trip--any other flounder spots you're willing to share? I've had some success at Rollover and the shipping channel on the south side near the head of the jetty.

Hate to hear that--I bet the boat owners complained about all the traffic at the basin.

I fish pelican island at least 8 times a month. Its very close to where i Live. Like i can be fishing in 10 minutes, from house to water.
Regardless of what others say..I do not think the flounder are in a run yet..and if they are, then Texas should ban flounder fishing, because there isnt any. Last week and the week before there was about 50 people wading, and no one was catching fish.
I caught some small ones, one week, and 3 keepers another day.I hope that isnt the run.
I only use soft plastics on flounder.

I'll be there 2 weeks from tomorrow thru the weekend--chasing the flounder during the day and posting up on the piers at night. Hopefully I'll catch the peak of the run...
