Does anyone replace glass lenses under warranty? I wouldn't think so, but not sure.

I have had a pair of 580 Fantom's for about 3 years. Just last week, I noticed the soft rubber on the underside of both temple pieces is separating from the hard plastic upper side. I'm filling out the warranty papers this weekend and will send them in Monday. I'll post as to the warranty work they offer to do.

So you or your buddy may have broken them? Youre not sure, but want someone else to pay for new ones. I dont own Costas, but agree they shouldnt pay for them. Its their fault you didnt read the warranty for a free pair of glasses? Seriously? just buy the $100 new pair.

I own a pair of Costas, sounds to me like the warranty blows. I believe sunglasses are one of the highezst mark up products around.....

If they would rather have negative publicity than fix them, oblige them. Post this on every message message board you use, tell your customers, hell make a sign and put it in your yard.
I won't go into details, but I have had a business end up being shut down because of telling me the same thing. Turns out they were wrong about preferring the negative attention.
And after reading most of this post, I think you are off on the right foot. Seems Costa needs to quit p1ssing people off.

Someone got a free pair of broken glasses, and now they want Costa to replace them for free due to the lifetime warranty. Costa will only repair them at a discount. Based on the language of the warranty, that seems more than fair. However, that's not good enough for the OP, and they decided to come here to try and make Costa look bad and whine about it. I actually look at is as negative publicity for the guide, not for Costa. I'd probably try and let this one die.

Man. Sorry Richie! I just read this thread. I feel really bad because I am the one that gave him those glasses. Man o war costas 580 glass. I put them in his shed and they were in their original case with no cracks as far as I knew. I have sent cracked lens costas back before and they have never given me anything more than a discounted repair I guess their lifetime warranty has rules although clearly stated, just as many other lifetime warranties have these days. Costa makes great sunglasses, and technically they are in the right, but maybe their overall customer service could be tweaked. I don't think any opinion on something as trivial as sunglasses would reflect poorly on the guide- you would agree if you knew Richie as he is one of the most honest, truly Christian guys you would ever want to meet.

I gotta agree with red ranger, I don't believe I'd ever pay more than ten dollars for sunglasses. I crunch them like tater chips. How much are Costas ? I guess if I gotta ask, I'm not a Costa customer. Lifetime warranty to me means free replacement, for life. They must count on you not reading the warranty before buying. I bet they don't cost ten dollars to make. You'd think with a big margin, they could afford to accommodate their customers.

It never fails that every thread like this has some yahoo that post it cost nothing to make the product that the company is making a killing.

I just wanted to rant because my definition of "lifetime warranty" is clearly not the same as theirs - and I'm stuck with a broken pair of glasses that I can buy off Ebay for their repair charge.
I can make a post about fishing on Lake Fork and the thread is on page 2 in 20 minutes. I expected the same on this.
I'm done with my rant. Please just let this thing die!!!
