Are the flounder hitting alot in Galveston right now? This weekend is a cold front and i assume that they would be biting as i haven't been there in a while. If so, where are popular places to gig for a first time flounder-gigger? and any possible tips? thanks!

November is a no gig month, but in December on a calm wind, clear water night you can still find them big girls.Heard from a friend of mine the north jetty over in bolivar, has alot of flounders.Said you would have to get on the beach drive toward the jetty, park your car where it is fence off and walk toward the jetty. There's a shallow grassy area there that has alot of flounders. They go in there buried them self in the mud to stay warm(on a high tide). So yes most part of that area is muddy. He said he and his friend caught 30 flounders there some years ago.He has,nt been back since.Might be worth checking out next time you are in that area.

Checkout 2coolfishing report. Some dude where slaughtering them flounders in an area that where protected from the wind today.I'm guessing somewhere in the Galveston Ship Chanel near Sea Wolf Park. It's a hit or mist during a northern blow through.Once the wind settle and the tides are back to normal them flounders should be everywhere. My advice to you is purchase some wader. You have a better shot at some flounders action covering more ground then sitting in one location. If I have only one hot spot I will pick for you banking fishing right now it would be the ferry landing Port bolivar side on the left hand.Granite Rocks right next to the bulk head facing the bay.Them flounders are always there on an incoming high tide.Gotta be there early though. That spot will only have room for a few fisherman.Live mullets are the bait that produces there in that location.Fish very close to the rock. Also between now and Thanksgiving, along the North Galveston Jetty, channel side with live mullets fish very close to the granite rocks produces many flounders.Lots of space to sit and fish. The magic word right now for bank fisherman is live mullets. You have em you catch em.No brainer.

What do you think about the fishing for flounder tomorrow? And by incoming high tide, say the high tide time listed for tomorrow is 4, what would the optimum window be? Thanks alot

Like I said hit or mist if you go Sunday.Don't know unless you go.I usually catch alot of flounders couple of hours before a moving peak high tides. When the water move they come in fast. One minute they're not there the next they are all stacked up like pan cakes.

Although I often heard flounders are caught in the surf, but the majority are making its way from the bay to the gulf.Any pass that leads to the gulf will have flounders present.A higher concentration seems to hang around structures example,Granite rocks that makes up barriers, bridge piling old or new, sunken barges-boats,Submerge tires, and what ever that is laying on the bottom in the water.

I WENT TO SEAWOLF PARK TODAY .I WAS USING LIVE MULLET AND MANAGED A LIMIT.THE FUN PART WAS WHEN I HAD A DOUBLE HOOKUP WITH TWO FLOUNDERS (BOTH LEGAL SIZE) TRYING TO NET THEM TO COMPLETE MY LIMIT.OTHER PEOPLE THAT WERE FISHING THERE WERE USING GULP (NUCLEAR CHICKEN SHRIMP AND PINK CURLY TAIL MULLET)AND THEY WERE ALSO CATCHING SOME FLOUNDER.

When you talk about seawolf park are you talking about the outside where I see people wading, or inside where you have to pay? Thanks
