I posted about this same list before, but here is a repeat...

- Texas City Dike (will be crowded now)
- Seawolf Park (especially in the fall flounder run, meaning NOW, when it will be crowded)
- Galveston surf, piers, or jetties
- The bayside end of 8 Mile Rd. (bank and wade fishing)
- If willing to wade, turn off 8 mi rd near the end onto Sportsmen Rd. Go to the end and wade.
- Bolivar jetty
- Bolivar Flats and pocket (wading)
- Rollover Pass
- Fish the pass with the mass of other fisherman, fish pass mouth seaside or bay side, wade the bay side
- Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge (south point in E Galveston Bay) (bank and wade fishing)
- Smith Point (bank and wade fishing)
- Fort Anahuac (bank and wade fishing)
- Baytown Nature Center
- Sylvan Beach Park
- San Jacinto State Park
- Many of the small parks around Baytown and LaPorte

Some of the choices of where to fish just depend on what you want to fish for too. For the surf or jetties I would recommend picking a heavier duty spinning combo. It does not have to be expensive to get started (just rinse it well with fresh water after each use).

This is an on-line excerpt from the book "Wade and kayak fishing on the Upper Coast of Texas", which I would highly recommend that you get. There is some very detailed and good info in this sample.

Galveston Island State Park. Surf or bay depending on wind. I have my best luck fishing the surf on an incoming tide. I arrive just before low tide to study the beach structure. Worst that happens is you go home with a bunch of 10" and up whiting.

Keep gafftop 14" and up. They are good eating fried.

Thanks for all the advice. I think I will head back out sometime around Thanksgiving. That should give my pride some time to heal.

Haven't been over there in a bit, but the Bacliff Fishing Pier is a longtime traditional cool-weather spot for flatfish, and even the occasional trout and redfish (sometimes lots of sand trout, too). Take Hwy, 146 south of the Kemah Bridge and keep going a mile or so, take first (four way) left and it will take to you the water. Turn right (bay will be on your left) and you'll come to the pier, past the power spillway. Hope this helps ... good luck ... Boz
