With a medium load and cool weather I'll see 74.5 to 75.5 Heavy and summer 73.5 That's with a 25 Fury / Atlas Hydraulic Plate Never been bit at that speed? Best with the trolling motor down on 5!

Thanks for the responses from real Ranger owners. I statred this to gather real info. Yes, I am aware of the limitations of Ranger in the speed catagory; I have owned one longer then most of yall. To those who are concerned for my well being and desire for "moderate speed" thanks for your concern but my mother and father are still around. Mostly though, to those who keep responding to keep my old Ranger: Read the original post. Not an option, thus the "Ranger taken out by a driver on the highway" story. My old Ranger was immaculate. Ask "Blue Ranger" on here. He saw it shortly before it's demise. You are rubbing salt in a wound telling me to keep it. Ya, I knew this post would fly awhile and attract all kinds other then what the question asked for! smirk wink

Whatever you do don't sell that boat. You have the fastest Ranger ever produced.

I'm about like Rangerb, I think my boat will do about 40 mph. 1986 pro craft with a merc 115. When I'm doing 40 I still have a little throttle left. If I goose it, it doesn't go faster, it just makes more noise. I do have gps, so I guess I could check my speed. O well, I'm not in that big a hurry anyway.

How fast is your Ranger should be answered "fast enough". It's like when someone ask how my Allison fishes, I answer "good enough". Every good fishing boat seems to be a compromise on the speed end of the equation. Every fast boat seems to be a compromise on the fishing end of the equation. I have had most of the go fast boats and they all are compromises. Decide what is important to you and buy that boat. You should be happy with that compromise.

Its the SHO that make the difference. I had a 06 z521 with 250 HPDI and tournament loaded it would run 70. I got a 2011 Z521 with the SHO and with same load it will run 74.
