After several cold fronts come through and the water gets cold, do any of you guys continue to fish for sunfish with a flyrod and flies? I've never fished for sunfish in the winter, but I intend to see if I can catch them this winter. I'm thinking I will need to use a spinning outfit with worms and a bottom technique, but thought I'd ask.

Do it a bit .. I uselly fish them in small ponds or shallow streams where there easy to find. But I go down in fly size 12-14 the biggest
everyday is a learning experience ....... if your not learning why try ?

I would suggest fishing deeper and slower, the slower the better, depth according to...well, where they're holding.

I fish for them year round, although I notice a drop in aggression during the winter months. Like RRhyne56 said, fish slowly. I think presentation and making sure to get the fly to move right past the fish you're looking for are the most important keys.

Deeper and slower is good. Also later afternoon and early evening works well for me. The water warms up some, but they still like the shady spots. I enjoy a "cast and blast" day sometimes - duck hunt in the morning and fish in the early evening.

I like to weight a cricket pattern with a 1/8th shot about 12" from the hook. Cast , let it sink to the bottom ,Fish slow. Just my two cents... works for me.
I swear I caught so many fish that the water level went down!
