My fishing partner and I both want to make the trip (from Arkansas)to Falcon. This would probably be the only trip we ever make that far. The question I have is: when would the best time of year be to go. I am not only talking about the bite but also the weather and all those kind of factors. I know weather is unpredictable but I figure some of y'all have been there enough to know when it may be a little more predictable. Thanks in advance!!

If you want to increase your chances of a monster, I recommend Mid Jan till end of Feb. The weather can be hit or miss then is the only problem. It will be warmer than Arkansas that time of year though. My partner and I got there the day a cold front hit in mid Feb this year. It was 34 degrees when we got to the lake. It sucked, but in 2.5 days we still caught fish and atleast 15 were 7 pound plus and my back seat caught an 11.5 pounder. Even under harsh weather conditions, that time of year, you can still catch fish, and big ones.

You will get lots of input on this, and that question has been asked/answere several times if you want to sift through all the previous posts on here.

You also may want to wait until the lake fills up again unless you just gotta go now. I went three times this year and it got tougher each time with dropping water levels. Jan-Mar are the 3 best months for a giant, but you also have to get lucky and have good weather at that time. Winds can cause that lake to fish real, real small.....especially with lower lake levels like now.

April. Best month for both numbers and big fish. Weather is usually not bad either.

The fish are still there, and I agree with Hoosier Daddy on the time. If you can go on the week 3-4 days before the full moon and go to big and small Tigers. The big girls will be on the move.

I actually caught 3 of my 10's in May this year so for me it is May, but I didn't move here until Feb. Weather is the one thing that can jack a trip up, but you can still fish good stuff just more challenging.

Go to a different lake until it fills up, not worth the trip right now IMO

It's just not the same. Can catch the same quality and quantity of fish on much closer lakes to you right now.

Lake is fishing SMALL
