Can someone tell me if there would be a problem in mixing semi-synthetic oil with full snythetic in the same outboards oil reservoir.I want to change to full synthetic but I don't want to drain the reservoir if I don't have to.

Run the tank as low as possible and then add the new oil. Should be fine from there.

Don't mix. Get the oil reservoir as low as possible before switching over to full syn.

Follow whatever the manufacturer specifies for your engine. I assume you've got a 2 cycle, it's not something you want to play with.

I ran mine low and switched when Mercury decided to change the recommended oil for the Pro XS.

I ran my oil res tank down fairly low and then mixed in a gallon of Pennzoil Full Syn.

That was over eight years ago, no problem!

I think you guys are way over thinking this. Synthetic and non synthetics mix fine AKA synthetic blends. If you are running a synthetic blend and going to full synthetic you won't have any issues mixing it in. The only reason to run the tank low is to know when you are at 100% synthetic instead of a lesser percentage.

I would not run full synthetic in a regular motor.

That is on the advise of a Jay Smith.
