Had a guy tell me he straight reels in jerk baits. Has any one else ever done this?

I don't see why it wouldn't work at sometimes. I've caught them on crankbaits by jerking them back. But no I've never personally done it

Basically be like a minnow shaped crankbait that don't dive very deep. Kinda like a shad rap.

I'm not going to say it won't work. I have caught them on crankbaits when the line twists around the hook, and it flutters in circles, and had bass blow up on them.... However, I don't think reeling a jerkbait is going to get you optimal performance.

I'll pull a jerk bait...instead of twitching. long sweeps, but not just straight reel it back in.

swim jig don't wobble too good either but sometimes they eat it like a fat kid eats cake. Seen fish caught doing it not by me but by buddies in the boat

Small jerkbaits reeled slow and steady around laydowns and rocks are great for early spring for me. Be versitile with the colors though, match the natural baits in lake like a minnow.

Good luck

I took a guy from Canada out to Ivie a couple of years back and he kicked my arse by reeling one back very slow. I was up in the front jerking away wondering how this Canuck that had never done anything but backtroll was kicking my butt!

Retirement best job ever.
