I just moved to San Antonio recently and wanna get out on the water soon. Where are some good places to kayak around a bit on the Guadalupe?( or other rivers nearby) I'd like to take my fly rod but more than anything I just wanna get out and explore a bit. Thanks for any info!

There are some awesome places real close to town. On the Guad a nice easy trip is to start at Cypress Bend park in New Braunfels and go to the Mill Dam. Its not very long but its scenic and easy to get started. Also hit the. Medina River just above medina lake. It prob near dry at the moment but when it comes back its well worth it. San Marcos river is always flowing. The Upper Guad, above Canyon is awesome as well. There is a state paddling trail starting south of SA and going to Goliad Tx which is very nice and secluded. All kinds of stuff. Check out www.southwestpaddler.com and click the links for some of the local rivers. It'll show you put in and take out and all the hazards along the way.
