Took the kids out for a quick evening trip. We did ok after finding them, but had to leave soon afterwards since it was a school night. There were still a lot of dinks mixed in too.





My best friend was in town, so the pressure was on to put him on some fish since he rarely gets to go fishing. I originally met him while I was in the Navy - he's still on active duty, but we have stayed in touch throughout the years. We had a great day (filled his sand bass limit for the day) and a few surprise catches as well.

sandjohnny I think maybe you have me confused with someone else or a set of really good binos. We haven't met, but I'd be happy to swap info though.

The largemouth was caught on a blue/chrome rattletrap and released to fight another day. Crappie was caught on a chartreuse feathered jig and was released to the grease.

Some of the sandies were caught trolling either chartreuse or red body/ white feather jigs, others were caught cast and retrieving the same. I don't mind trolling if I can't catch them another way - it's good for impatient little ones or when you need to fill the cooler.

Triumpd I think you may have misunderstood my comment. Fishing for sandbass has been really hard this summer. Trolling has been the method to catch sandbass because they are scattered all over the lake. They have not schooled up in any numbers to surface or schooled up on the humps and ridges so they have been very unusal for the summer. I do admit I hate trolling but if any one like to troll for what ever reason that is non of my business.

Anyway... do you mainly vertical slab fish? Do you have a minimum depth you will fish with that method?
