The elite series coming to sabine river in March out of Orange... Is that river system big enough for them to fish without totally being on top of each other?

I have never fished the actual river but looked at it on google earth and it looks awful "skinny".

Any opinions from those who have fished it?

i bet it wont even be won out of the sabine. depending on the off limits area, the fishing area is endless as far as you want to run. I grew up fishing just north of there on the neches. they have louisiana to the east, sabine river system, taylors bayou area, neches river, pine island area. plenty of room

It will completely depend on what the off-limits are. I have not heard or seen anything official as to off-limits. If BASS is liberal with where they can fish, then the options are wide open. From the Sabine River anglers could access the Neches River, via Sabine Lake. The Intercoastal is right there, so anglers could essentially add the entire Calcasieu River system to the mix, if allowed. Vinton Drain-Ditch is close to the launch. If Somebody is brave enough to venture a long ways north up the sabine, there are lots of backwaters, and sloughs that hold lots of fish.

there arnt any off limits as to what systems they can fish. They are allowed to run north up sabine, east to the calcaseiu or west to the neches and taylors bayou. There will be plenty of water to fish.

I dont look for many to actually fish the Sabine, dont think it can hold up compared to the others. When say others I am referring to the Calasieu, Neches and Taylors. I do believe this area down here will surpirse people with the fish it has. Or at least I hope it does.

As already stated, it is actually a very large river system with lots of productive backwater areas. Some are in Texas and some are in Louisiana, so making the decisions on which way to go will be the key as always. Finding and catching bass on the Sabine will not be a problem, but locating and catching the larger bass consistently over several days will be the key to winning this event(like most events). I do believe most pros will catch a lot of fish every day, with some commenting on the tail being too close to the eyes.

Trying to figure out how they would get into taylors ( freshwater side) if the run the intracoastal.... Wont the dams and barriers keep them out of the freshwater side?

same on the Neches, Calc and Taylors. Either Locks will be open or they will have to lock thru

I live ten minutes from the Sabine, fished it for 30 years. There is plenty of waters to fish, you cant see it from a satellite thought . But there are some toads up river in that swamp, looks like the atchafalaya up there. It will take a commitment either way u go...these guys are the best, thell findm.

I've heard reports of alot of tournaments on sabine where big fish was a 3 lber. And winning weights were like 7 to 9 lbs.

This tournament should be very interesting and surprising to say the least. These guys will have plenty of water to cover/choose from to fish. Big ticket is committing to a spot just do to the shear amount of time it will take to run the distances between what some consider key areas down here. These guys are the best for a reason. They will find them and pick ever area apart. I think it will surprise some to see what they pull out of here.

That being said not unless guys run really far north on the Sabine, it probably will not be a deciding factor during the tournament. Just my opinion.

Are the backwater areas conducive to getting a large glass elite series rig into? That might come into play since they can't switch boats for a tournament anymore.

I put my zx250 all up in it!!!! Waahhoooooo!!!...

I dont see 4 sixteen pound days...but one 20 pound day is very possible, and that would create separation.
