Poss another ramp etc yes there will be at least 3 foot rollers as soon as you clear the breakwater @ Chandlers if the wind is 20 mph.. Hubbard can be a real b**** in the wind...

Ok thank you for the advice. Is lavon any better on windy days? I'm off which is rare, but I'd rather live to see another one and not risk it. That's why I come for advice. Thanks again

South wind is bad on Hubbard. North wind is bad on Tawakoni. At 20 mph it just isn't safe. Buddy was at dal rock today and fire rescue had divers in boats. He couldnt get to close because he had his daughter with him..

I went with a fellow to try out a rare 1972 Boston Whaler 16'7 " Bass boat with a 6 beam on Ray Hubbard. The wind that day was gusting to 40 mph. The launch area was the public ramp off Dalrock & I-30.
I thought he was going to stay in the protected area between the highway and the marina. I was wrong. That guy took us out and turned north under the bridge and back. All I could think about was if that 115 hp Evinrude died we would be on the rocks there on the north side of I-30. It didn't and we made it back safely.
I was really surprised how little water drained out when he pulled the plug. There had been overspray and I was soaking wet however there were no rollers that came over the bow.
I was sold. Made an offer and bought the boat.
One thing for sure even tho my vintage Boston Whaler can handle that kind of wind on Ray Hubbard with 4 swells I'm too old for that kind of thing.
My limit is wind gusts up to 15 mph. I like to take it easy and not risk my life seeing a lot of it is already spent.
It's funny how young people will take risks they shouldn't and us old folks are careful not to.

It's funny how young people will take risks they shouldn't and us old folks are careful not to. Well I like to think I'm one of the intelligent young guys. I'm confident in what I can do but never been to Hubbard on a windy day. Like I said I'm a young one 30. But when you have a two week old little one it makes you think twice. So with that being said, I guess it's on to the deer lease or honey do's. lol

I've been on almost all the lakes around the metroplex and Ray Hubbard is the only one that scares me on a strong southerly wind. Lavon is a little better but the lake is low. Use East Fork ramp if you go

I meant no offense. There are some responsible, however the ones that stand out aren't.

If you know how to run your boat in rough water it isn't impossible. I fished both Saturday and Sunday this past weekend and the wind was 16-24mph with gust to 35 mph according to NOAA. It isn't fun if you do not know how to operate your boat in those conditions and it can be dangerous.
If you lack confidence in those conditions I would just wait for a better day to do some fishing.

High winds will keep me from getting in a boat to fish from for sure. But I will not hesitate to fish from the bank in heavy winds. Only the rain will keep me at home when I really want to get in some fishing. My younger years even the rain would not stop me. Now that I am about to retire I have to try and take care of my health also.
