ICAST was in July. There it was announced that the 800 and 900 series would be changing displays to the LED backlighting for the 2013 year model. The new units will have HD in the model names.

How do you post a pic from your Humminbird to the internet? I got a 1198 with A 8gb sd card, and a new laptop. But have no clue how to get the card reader to run the sd card info.

If I have a SI transducer on the back of the boat and I add a in hull transducer is it necessary for me to put the temp sensor in water or will it pick it up from the SI transducer?

There are two shoot-thru 83/200 kHz transducers.
The XP 9 20 that doesn't have a temp sensor.
The XP 9 20 T that does have a temp sensor.

If you use the AS SIDB Y cable, the temp sensor of the XP 9 20 T is not connected. Temp comes from the SI transducer.

If you want to use the temp. sensor of the XP 9 20 T you have to use the TS3 switch and select which transducer to use. Some like that setup to monitor livewell temp.

Doug, my 898 will sometimes light up really good and other times the screen looks a ton more grainy when I haven't touched the sensitivity. Sometimes it does it when I change from the track back to SI and visa versa. Some areas I can set the sensitity at 12 or 13 and it's fine and other times it's so dark at 12 or 13 that I can't even see anything.

It all worked great before the recent software upgrade. Any ideas? I also have my chart speed set at 3....

Thanks Drawout. No, I was on Grapevine which has a hard bottom and it's happened on different lakes too.

Check the voltage readout when the display darkens.

What would cause the voltage to slip?

Battery usage, weak battery, poor connections, corroded connections, loose connections, wiring too small to handle the load---are just a few.
