From the six old geezers site, top water, shallow early, lots of birds with fish under them after that. Fish are feeding, have food in their bellies.

Went up last Friday morning w/ my dad, got up there early to make sure we caught enough shad...ended up with ~30 good shad.

Saw some birds over by Platter Flats about 30 minutes after sun rise and pulled in a couple over there on live bait.

Then headed over to North Island (both Oklahoma side and Texas side) and ran into a lot of fish there. Lots of bird action on the OK side w/ some good topwater action. Then moved to the Texas side and fished live bait. Caught a bunch of smaller ones, and actually ended up running out of bait (due to the smaller ones not taking it all the way down and the catfish that just sit there and play w/ the shad and end up killing it).

Heading up to Texoma this weekend (10/20), anything happening to the north? Staying at Bridgeview marina. Any reports/tips would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The birds were NOT working yesterday morning (10-15). We couldn't find fish stacked anywhere.

We looked all around the islands, Wachita Point, back to the islands the mouth of Big Mineral, back to the islands.......

There was no wind to speak of and the only "chop" to the water was from all of the guides and us running from one spot to the next.

We called it a day around lunch-time.

Dube and I put in a full day at Texoma yesterday (7am-6pm). No takers on topwater early except a couple of smallmouths down near the dam. No birds so we started to beat the banks for LMB and Smallmouths. No action and no baitfish on the main lake so we headed back in the creeks looking for the shad. Found them in the middle third of little Mineral and picked up about a dozen LMB and a few Smallmouths. Largest LMBs were a 4 and a 3+. That slowed down after lunch and we tried some other spots until about 3pm and we headed for the ramp. Saw some birds about 2 miles NNE of North Island and the chase was on for the next 3 hours. Largest striper was a little over 6 pounds and most where in the 2-3 pound range. Caught a few on slabs and the majority on tailspiner and lipless cranks. All where released. We don't normally fish Texoma but I bet we are back up there soon.
