Im looking t get a fly rod for basically jigging for crappie. Ive seen them used before and talked to the people about them using them and they say they are more sensitive and also more comfortable to fish with, then spinning gear when jigging, plus i like the additional length. My question is does anyone use them fr crappie fishing and are they better? Plus if so what do you recommend? I see the weights are different and that is all greek to me so not sure where to even start? Or what line to use or anything. Just want a a sensitive rod that will pull crappie in. Not looking for anything expensive and wouldnt really be used for anything else but jigging. Any info would be appreciated on this and where to get one at.

Bass Pro and Cabelas sell entry level fly rods for cheap. Probably a six weight. But go to the store and wiggle a new, see what feels right to you.
As far as line, I'd think you'd just want to add on a spinning reel and whatever mono you like to use.

I use my 3wt for crappie and white bass but not as a jigging rod, just regular fly fishing. Its a blast to get one of those on a light line rod

There are some really nice long jiggin poles made exclusivly for crappie. They are less expensive than a fly rod and made for the type of fishing that you will be doing.
I swear I caught so many fish that the water level went down!

i have some of those rods but looking for something lighter and a bit more sensitive then what im using. With those rods and a spinning reel hard to get a balanced set up you can fish with all day and not cost a arm and a leg to get lol

Why not just go with a B'n'M telescoping pole and a B'n'M West Point Crappie Reel? The reel is under $7 and you can get a graphite telescoping pole for around $25. Then you'll have a nice, light-weight combo made for jig fishing crappie instead of spending more money on a system that isn't made to do what you want to do.
FISH ON!!! ummmmm off

An the reel seat on that rod is the same as other rods so you can put a tiny little ultra light reel on it too ... For crappie id use a little close face style with a trigger

The Basspro Crappie Max rods appear to be made out of the same materials as their store brand fly rods. I picked up one of the 7 foot rods last week and caught a few crappie with it a few days later.

Well a jigging rod go for the $20 special but to go out to broken bow or else were for trout you will want to invest atleast $100 bucks for the combo to fly fish ... I have castes the $20 rod with tight loops but that's experienced casting an that rod would not be good to learn to fly cast with... I suggest going to a bass pro near you that provides free classes for casting if you want to actualy want to fly fish
