I took my son (5 yrs old) out fishing last night at a pond by our apartment playground. A couple kids were there with their Dad. They had never been fishing before. The kids got excited when they saw us casting and asked their Dad if they could come watch, creeping closer every couple minutes until they asked if they could fish with us. I end up letting them use my rod, taking turns with my son, and they all caught a few sunnies. It was pretty cool to be able to help them on their first attempts at fishing and see how excited they got when they caught something!

When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch." - Luke 5:4

That is what fishing is all about. fish Give kids an opportunity to do something good and you will be surprised how many who want to take part. I wish more parents would take part in their kids lives. It is the simple things in life that count. thumb Thanks for sharing your experience. Good job! cheers

lol I know the feeling . I was out of work for a year on my first payday I was at Walmart and found a nice little zebco reel for $3.96 and I have some old rods hanging around from when my nephews were around . So now I try to keep at least one in my trunk to give away , with the parents permission of course . its so cool to see the look on the kids faces and it cost me so little and gains so much.
