Taking a group out Wednesday so went on a scouting run today from 3 to 6:10 PM. Did manage to catch 50: 42 whites, 2 legal hybrids, 3 keeper yellow bass and 3 cats. Details: The fall bite is back but before today it was only in shallower (10 to 15 ft) water. So today I headed out to see if the deep structures would produce. Started at Greenhouse Ridge and found a good bunch of fish down on the bottom in 24 ft water. Unlike the last 2 months, this time they bit my #4 Mepps. I caught 10 whites and 2 nice cats. Also got a big hybrid half way in before he pulled off. I left still catching them to check out some other spots. Dam Ridge by the Pole didn't show much on graph. Moved on to Dam Ridge and saw fish. Caught 7 or 8 including 2 hybrids. Fish were moving around on the ridge, so I went on to next spot - Long Ridge. Found fish in 19 ft water. Caught half dozen then went to check out Mid-lake Hump. Saw fish there in 23 ft but they wouldn't bite. It was 5 PM and clouds blocking sun, so I'm thinking it's getting too dark down at 23 ft . So I went to check 2 shallow spots - Key Ranch Drop-off and Key Ranch North. Found fish in both spots in 13 to 15 ft water. Caught 10 at one and the rest of the fish at the other. Left still catching fish. Snaggin Steve came by at Key Ranch North and we chatted for a few minutes. He targets hybrids and said the fall bite for hybrids is NOT here yet. He said he ran into folks farther north and lots of sandies being caught up there. As far as the deep structure bite for sandies, I'd say it was here during the middle half of day when visibility down deep is good. Conditions today were calm and about 78 degrees. Only bait tried today was the #4 Mepps. 21 inch hybrid caught today: 22 inch hybrid caught today:

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Dennis I have to tell you a funny story! I've fished Hubbard 30-years. We have a Guide here named CC. In fact when I was headed out yesterday I saw he was headed in. So I was thinking reading this he must have gone back out. Then I started reading all the spots you mentioned you fished and I thought to myself is CC speaking in code now! Too funny... BTW they were deeper on Hubbard yesterday. Exact opposite patterns as we've experienced last couple weeks... Took me awhile to figure out the depth and pattern and when I did it was on. Happy Fishing.

Thanks for letting me know about CC. To be more clear, I'll only abbreviate from now on when I'm short of space. Does CC ever post on here and, if so, what's his handle?

I was there Sep 19 and fish were there. More recently was at Enchanted Oaks Ridge (SW of the island at end of causeway) and more fish there than Tennis Courts.

Thanks for letting me know about CC. To be more clear, I'll only abbreviate from now on when I'm short of space. Does CC ever post on here and, if so, what's his handle? He does every once in awhile... He fishes out the same Marina as I do, Harbor Bay, in Rockwall. He works at the Bass Pro Shop in Garland part time and fishes rest of the time. I'll see if I can track down his handle. I don't think it's going to be a problem. Once I saw your location as Cedar Creek I figured it out. It did have me going reading the locations!
