I am going over to visit a friend for a couple days and was going to hit dripping springs lake for a couple days. Never been there and was just wondering if anybody has any info. Or does anybody know of a good web site for info. I have searched and haven't found anything with any substance. Thanks Rob

It is my home lake. It is a nice little lake used to be known as as big fish lake. Fish the area right next to the boat ramp. Okmulgee Lake right next to Dripping Springs is a nice lake with good bass fishing as well. Only run your boat in the main area as Drip was never cleared before it was filled. It is not very big only 500+ acres. You should be able to fish it effectively in a day. It is a fun lake you will enjoy your trip. There are still plenty of big fish there.

Gary went there could not find any info on dripping springs. Rev thanks for the info. Was wondering about running on the lake. Will be careful. I have google earthed the Drip lake and looks like all the camp and rv sites are at Okmulgee.

Ah, I had some good times at Okmulgee lake as a kid. Graduated from Preston High School. Have not fished Dripping Springs since before they drained it to repair the dam. Used to have some big fish in it before that.

I used to fish Dripping Springs about 3 times a week from the mid 80's until 2000 before I moved to TX.
The lake is like a mini Lake Fork. It's actually about 1200 acres. It has a lot of timber most areas of the lake except for the area around the dam. It used to be a big slot lake but it was removed about 10 years ago after much of the lake was drained to repair the dam.
It was heavily restocked and appears to be back in good shape. I am not sure if it has the lunkers it used to but I know they are still catching 10# fish.
Baits: Spook buzzbait spinnerbait/chatterbait Lipless Bomber 5A Squarebill Fluke/Senko
Shad color would be primary color. Black/Chartreuse is a another color that traditionally worked well. I would start with the shad colors.
Fish the main creek arm (Salt Creek) and follow it all the way back if you can. It goes a very long way. You can see it on Google or Bing. I never had much success in Sand Creek the other main creek.
PM me your email I can highlight some of my more productive areas.
