Have a 2005 Yamaha 150 Outboard. Water Temperature gauge isn't working. Water pressure seems to be up around 20 when running at 2500 RPM. When I disconnect the wire from the sending unit, the gauge moves full right when the wire is grounded. Replaced the sending unit, still no reading. replaced the wire from the sending unit to the gauge, still no reading. I feel sure the motor is not over heating, but would like the gauge to work. I did not use teflon tape or any kind of dope on the sending unit when I installed it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It may be working correctly but the engine is running too cold for it to read. Borrow a temp gun and compare readings. If a thermostat is stuck open, that may be the problem.
