I was just wanting to consult a attorney because I want the same treatment my friend has recieved. I know what I want. A new Boat Sorry for your problems. With all due respect, if you're going to contact an attorney to "help" you, the last thing you should do is come on a public fishing forum talking about why. Hire the attorney and let him do your talking. That's what you're paying him for. And just because Ranger dealt with your friend in one manner is no guarantee they'll deal with you in the same manner. Nor do they necessarily have to. I'd be a lot less likely to work with a customer who cried on the internet with the threat of legal action, than one who worked directly with me, as the manufacturer. Best of luck in getting this resolved to your favor. It is called a Forum and his name is Snicker, I think he is just getting opinions

snickers, sounds like you've already talked to Tim or Mike at Ranger if you're sending your boat back, but here's a bit of advise that may possibly help Dillon or anyone else having the same or any other problem with their Ranger. First thing I would do is take my boat to my dealership and let them take pictures and deal with Ranger. If this isn't possible then take it to any Ranger dealer and they should also deal with Ranger for you. This is a warranty issue and should be dealt with as such. Only when the dealership advises you to jump in and talk with Ranger would I do so and in that case I would talk to Tim Houck. Just be prepared to play alot of phone tag as none of them ever answer the phone but they do call back. This comes from a voice of experience as my '10 Z522 had the same problem earlier this year. I took it to The Boat Center and they dealt with Ranger just like any other warranty issue. My boat got picked up (and delivered) and I fully expected to get my old boat back after it had been repaired. Ranger not only builds boats but they do alot of refurbishing and repairing. I would have no problem with a repaired transom. Most cases they're stronger. Ranger looked at my boat and decided to build me a new boat which suprised me but I didn't turn it down either. Ranger still builds a great boat and will take care of you. This was my 7th one and the first time I've had issues with the transom. If you're dealer won't help, take it to The Boat Center in Flint and they'll help all they can whether you bought it there or not. They understand they're a Ranger dealer and it's their job. Anyone with questions about my experience with them feel free to pm me and I'll be glad to help all I can. Good luck with your boat. Still one of if not the best built boat on the market.

That is pretty funny, although they do have a rig that will run a little bit right now.

Not sure that a problem with an '06 boat warrants them giving you anything. I'm sure Ranger will stand by their product and will repair it. That's exactly what they did to mine and mine wasn't 7 years old. Like I stated earlier, Ranger went above and beyond my expectations but I never threatened them with a lawsuit demanding a free rig either.

They will probably assess the damages and then estimate how much it will cost them to fix your boat and how much it be to just replace it with a comparable hull and rigging your motor and electronics on it... They might also take into consideration the customer satisfaction on how they handle it. I would have to say that if this is going to be a large number of boats with the problem it may be a strictly business(money) decision. With a name as big as Ranger I would expect them to take customer satisfaction into account no matter how many defective hulls it may be.
I will probably never own a Ranger because I like speed too much, but they are good boats! It makes me laugh to hear guys say "that's why I bought a Ford not a Chevy"..."That's why mines better than yours!" Any manufacturer can have an issue with materials and hell I bet other boat manufactures have purchased the same or similar materials from the same supplier. With the oil prices, the resins have gone up and I would imagine a lot of the compounds and mixtures in resins are changing these days.
How Ranger handles this as a whole will say a lot about them!
Good luck!

A couple of questions: Was this boat sold before Ranger went bankrupt? If so the new company may not have a legal obligation to do anything for you. Remember when this company was bought out of bankruptcy pretty much all they bought was the equipment and the name.

Did you have a Ranger that had a transom failure, just curious ? that's why I run a Cat I run a cat now, and my 04 ranger transom cracked during the break in period. Ranger would do nothing about it, they said I must have hit a stump, well there was no paint damage on the motor. My dealer tried to work with them and got no where. The dealer and I split the cost to repair the transom. Soon after that my consoles cracked up, my top cap cracked up, and my carpet started to come loose. By that time my dealer (Travis Marine)lost their ranger contract, so I dealt with Fun and Sun, they got ranger to agree to repair the boat, and they claimed it would take nine months to complete the process. I paid cash for my boat and there was no way they would keep it for nine months, so I pushed for a replacement boat. They refused and got hard headed again refusing to discuss the issues. I had the boat repaired through insurance and sold it at a huge loss. My criticism of Ranger lasted from 2004 to 2007, I was very constant on this forum and all the loyal Ranger fans could not believe my troubles. So be ready for personal attacks from loyal owners. It makes them feel better, since they too bought an overpriced piece of garabage. What made it worse for me is that I went from a Champion to a Ranger, I was brain dead at the time.
