This may be a stupid question...but I recently installed an hds 5 at the console and a 7 on the bow. No structure scan or anything special yet, but am wondering do the cords match up if I wanted to swap them around? Thanks

If I understand your question correctly, no they don't match up. If you have them connected via ethernet, then wpts are available from one unit to the other. If ethernet is not connected, then wpts from the bow and assuming it is reading from the TM will mark the wpt at the TM.
If the console ducer is thru the hull or transom, then wpt is from the rear or near the rear.
Yes wpts will be close, but no they are not the same if there is no connection.

I think you are asking if you can physically remove the units and move them from one location to another; if so, the answer is yes, the power cord and transducer hook ups are the same for either unit.

I spent about 10 minutes to figure how I would try to ask it...haha...but yes, I was wondering about physically removing them from one end to the other. They are both on ram mounts, just didn't know where I'd like the 7 to be. Thanks for the help guys!

Either way, I don't think it matters. If you are talking about the 7" to the Console, and 5" to the Bow, or in reverse, the wiring & connectors are the same and will allow that change.
Moving due to a GPS location should not matter either. Once you mark a waypoint, it put down a exact spot (In Numbers) of that exaact spot on the earth. So if you have the unit on the front or back of your boat, it is searching for that exact spot. The exact spot doesn't change locations, only the place you are searching from. We often exchange my 10", and put it on my brothers boat where he had a 5", and the GPS Waypoints are still deaad on. It is reading numbers to get to a location. The numbers lead back to the same location, if it is the same numbers.
I have a 10" on the Console and a 7" on the Bow, but can read an exact spot from either one, no matter which unit logged the location.
Now, your Bow unit is located right next to your trolling motor in most boats with the transducer directly under the unit, so with the GPS being internal to the unit, it is reading your transducer right under the unit. But on you console, the Unit sits beside you, and the transducer is at the back of the boat. So when you get to a Mark, it is right under your unit, which is where it should be, but your transducer is reading the back of the boat. Which makes you think you are not getting the same waypoint mark from both units. You actually are, you transducer is NOT (Mounted Under You Unit), it reading 6'-10' behind where your unit is sitting. If the transducer was sitting right under the console, it would be reading the exact poition of the waypoint mark.
Some units have the GPS Puck, and if those are mounted right above the transducers on the back of the boat you are getting an exact reading on the loaction. HDS Units have an Internal GPS, so they read at the unit itself.
Clear as Muddy Water, Huh...
