Over the summer I had the idea and a lot of people expressed interest in doing a tie and auctioning off the boxes to prostate cancer as part of the "Movember" promotion.

Was just wondering if anyone is still interested in participating. If so I can start a sign up sheet for what people would be willing to tie. I can give receipts of donation to whoever would like one for tax purposes. I have a huge bag of unopened supplies I am gonna go through to put together a couple grab bags for the participants in some way.

I had a post about it I tried to bump up but apparently it has been deleted. I will write up the formal description after work but here's a little bit:

A company I work for KLeN Laundry participates in a worldwide promotion every year called Movember http://us.movember.com This campaign is partnered with LIVESTRONG and the Prostate Cancer Foundation to help fund research and spread awareness of prostate cancer. People use different methods to fund raise for this cause and this year I thought it would be good to do a fly tie for charity and auction off the flys/boxes for Movember. 100% of what is donated/raised by sales or auction will be donated.

I'll get to write something better up on some letter head a little later but this is the gist of it. Also if anyone has any suggestions or ideas I'm open to them!

Maybe some of the FF clubs would want to participate?

November is almost here and that means it is coming up on prostate cancer awareness month. Prostate and testicular cancers is the number 1 killer of men around the world and early awareness is key to prevention and intervention.

Movember is a campaign that came about to spread awareness of men�s health threats. It started as men started Nov. 1 clean-shaven and growing a moustache for the 30 days of November in order to draw awareness and attention. It has grown into a fundraising and awareness campaign that is seeing growth around the globe.

The Movember Effect: Awareness & Education, Survivorship, Research
The funds raised in the US support prostate cancer and testicular cancer initiatives. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men�s health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG Foundation. Together, the three channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with our strategic goals in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.

KLeN Laundry is one of the companies that regularly participate in the Movember event. We understand that not every wants to or can grow a moustache so we are focusing on raising money for the foundations this year.

Our main idea is to do a charity fly tie that will end with an auction. All of the money raised will be donated through Movember Foundation at the end of November. We are asking for any donations and help that you are available to offer. Any and all items will be accepted for auction and sale. Sponsor logos are able to be put on all materials donated and all press material used.

Nobody? What happened to everyone that was interested in the event in July?

Uhhh....so what's the hold up? Sounds like a great cause to me, first I've heard of it but I'll be glad to send you some flies and I already have a mustache.
Let me know when you need them by, where to ship them and I'll start tying.

They didn't get hardly any responses so they went with another way to raise funds.
Pretty sad considering we're mostly a bunch of older guys sitting around on our prostate that givin' the odds it will eventually go bad, then we'll be wishing we had helped to raise money for a cure....

This part of the fundraise was canceled due to the lack in interest when it actually came around. Maybe next year we'll start collecting in July. Thanks to DoIt for contacting me with interest.
