Posted this in the bass fishing section so anglers that fish that lake can see just how dangerous it really is. Left beacon bay marina and followed a pontoon boat all the way to the mouth of kickapoo. Once we got there he headed out of the channel markers and proceeded to go to the south side of the markers. Seeing as I've never been this way I followed at about 30 mph. Stumps to the left and stumps to the right and he split them right down the middle. Followed all the way to cove west of kickapoo marina and saw he trimmed his motor way up at that point I came off plane and let him go. I turned toward kickapoo marina and instantly hit 4 stumps. Got back on my trail and proceeded to idle back down the trail we just carved and must have hit 6 more stumps before I made back to the mouth of the creek. I have a lowrance hds7 with si and what I consider to be pretty accuracte gps. Just goes to show ya....a 3 foot error zone on your gps is just enough to mess you up if you don't know where you are going. Beware..that lake is very dangerous!!

stumps everywhere. large stump field about 1/2 mile off of west bank just north of Wolf Creek Park. One large stump that you can see, a bunch just under water that you cant see

First error, don't follow pontoon boats out there as I've seen probably 50 in last two years smash stumps. And no there is no real lane between those stumps just an area where the stumps arent as tall. I'll try to find pictures of it from when lake was 8 foot low that I took. The best rout coming out of Kickapoo is to stay in channel markers till you clear the big dead tree on right, then swing to the right (not sharp turn) and run parallel to the docks on point while pointing nose of boat at the bridge till you pass the smaller creek/cut on your right. Then hit the main lake to where you wanna go. If your trying to go south, watch out for walkers lake area as its shallow and full of trees/standing timber. Livingston is a very dangerous lake to run if you don't know what your doing especially north of 190. The river channel markers are off by a good 20 yards in most places up there and when u get outside them you better be CREEPING with the motor as high as you can get it. You WILL Bump stumps/trees eventually.

Thanks chance! I have learned not follow pontoon boats. They have less to lose than I do! I know my way pretty well around Livingston but just thought since i had time to kill I;d try something new. I do need a path to brushy creek from the east side of 190. If you'd like to meet someday and show me the way I'll volunteer my boat and gas!!

Sure that's a pretty easy run but also tricky at same time. Easy once I explain or show you but tricky if not familiar with area. Shoot me a text or call sometime about fishing. 936-334-6187

Not too mention one of the worst lakes to navigate after its rains. Floater city north of 190. And trees and logs move into the channels. Always be careful on Livingston.

All you have to do is watch the shore in the direction the wind is blowing and you will see what is in store for you. I've seen log jams that will blow your mind. What sucks is, most of those floaters hang just under the surface. I've seen floaters that look like stunps. You mark them then come back two weeks later and they are gone. Crazy!

Chance, leaving penwaugh I head straight for the point on left side and round it as close to the rocks as possible then stick close to the left towards the next point which leads to beacon bay. But what I've heard lately is that part of the lake is open once you round the corner from penwaugh. I don't believe it. Have you ever cut across to the west side of pine Island from that point?

HH the first thing you should not do is listen to Chance. He and I have made few extra fast and scary runs in that lake. 85mph in a foot of water in my Stroker raises the pucker factor to new levels. No really though he knows that lake well! If not for his direction I would be dead trying to make some of those runs.

Haha Shawn I swear that boat will grow wings one day. 5 minutes from Kickapoo to palmetto has to be a record of some sort
