The last time I posted where and what I used three guys went there and wiped out the whole population.
Remember when we shocked that one pond and didn't even pull one up to count? They loaded their freezers with big crappies and ended all the fun for everyone.
Never again will I make that mistake and let that happen again.
I am not telling where or how.
Sorry I ate all your crappie... Nice fish dude. We have to get out soon. This Kolton kid is a fishing machine, out there day and night. Working is messing up my fishing time. I need to be retired. Only 35 years to go!

Big fish should be going later this week once the weather settles.
Time to get on the feed bag. Murphy said other than spring, fall is the best time for a big one.
I plan to get a fat one a HUGE swim bait. I have a few on the way from Castiac lures... I like theirs the best. That big fish I had on lake X last fall was on a Castiac catch 22 Tilapia swimbait marked up to look like a crappie.

I agree. This time of year they feed like crazy and if you can find one you might find a bunch.
You would think a big swimbait would get your arm tore off.
David had on a big one the other day that snapped his line.

I am going with 50lb braid and a 25lb floro leader linked with a pretty large silver swivel.
The swivel gives the impression that the bluegill/crappie is chasing a meal; making the target seem pre-occupied and an easy snack for a big bass.
Thats a trick I learned from a guide in So-Cal who had many DD's on that rig.

I missed a few fish today on a KVD red rattletrap.
I think I tried to set the hook early and pulled it outa her mouth ... twice.
Ya gota remember to give her time to take conrol before settin the hook with floro and a fast action rod.
My bad.

FFM, are you using anything special in regard to your hook when stitching? I hooked up on three big fish on Sunday that would have been my 3 PB's and lost all of them within 6-10' of the boat, all submerged. They simply spit the hook. I am using a #3 EWG worm hook to compensate for the smaller worm. I am now thinking about getting a #5 but don't want to rip the lips off of the majority dinkers that I catch.

@onthebank, I usually use a 4-5 ot hook. I have had no issues with them while bass fishing. I have caught a 1/4# LMB and the fish was just fine. Those hooks also manhandled a 20# catfish. The hook was a bit bent but still usable.

I use a Eagle Claw 1/0 round bend lazer sharp hook. I get them at Walmart, like all the other stuff I buy. They are cheap and work just fine.
I think the problem you are having happened to me today. All of the fish I catch stitching are hooked in the throat or inside the skin of the mouth, today I had one hooked on the lip. She was a head shaker, I bet she did it 10 times. The last shake was right next to the boat as I was getting my camera out that got her free.
It's the bite right now. The water is cooling down and the fish are in transision. I missed a few big one's today on a rattle trap, they were just not eating it.
