I am a conservationist but recently on an offshore outing we were hooking up on tons of big red snapper which happened to be out of season. The guide must have accidentally killed 4 or 5 10lb+ fish. I got a little steamed over it and he simply said that it can't always be controlled and that the birds and sharks need to eat too.
That statement gave me a new perspective when I think about keeping a bass. I would rather it be eaten than float up at the ramp.

Again, this makes a total of no more than 15 bass I've kept all year, including 3 smallies, and in comparison to this being the 284th day of the year and a possible 1420 bass I could have kept, I am in at less than 2% of my allowance per TWRA Regulations.

It's obvious you put that on here to get a rise out of catch and release fanatics. I love me some bass fillets too, but I have no respect for people that reach under rocks and kill those big catfish when they are at their most vulnerable. How many of those did you turn back?

There's a lie in this statement. Either he wasn't one of your "good buddies" or you've talked to him since. How could keeping simple fish step between your good friendship?

If I'm wrong saying there's a lie, then you've got more personal issues and don't need to be worrying with someone keeping a fish!

The irony of a post showing bass filets on a stringer by "No Stringer".

Yankee? You might want to study your history books there cowboy. TN folks are way more "southern" than Texans, and we got the Volunteer State name from sending 30,000 troops to bail y'all out of the Mexican-American War.
