I own both and fish in other peoples boats. I can't stand the low nose ride of a Ranger and have been in a Ranger that has speared a wave 3 times! My rear end and my back have been beat up more in a Ranger than my skeeter has ever done. I think that most of what we are hearing here is brand loyalty. I bought a used skeeter a month ago and the price was about the same as some of the comparible rangers I looked at. The finish on both boats looks to be about the same. The rigging on both boats were re-done because neither company did a very good job the first time! Both boats can and will get stress cracks. I don't really see either of the two being any better than the other. I will say the skeeter is faster (zx225) and I have not worried about spearing a wave. They both fish very well. I lean more towards the skeeter. Ultimately, it's personal preference.

Its a matter of bang for your buck as far as I'm concerned. I own a Skeeter and am happy with it, but If there were a Bass Cat dealer near me, that's what I would own. Rangers are a bit expensive, but awesome boats.
The only thing I'll say, is don't put a Suzuki on it, no matter what you buy.
My Yamaha has never let me down, but my buddy has a Suzuki on his boat and its a GIANT PIECE OF [censored]!! He's never taken a trip in two years of ownership that it hasn't acted up.

I have owned both. As mentioned it is Ford vs. Chevy. Personally I like my Skeeters better.

I would think most salesmen would probably prefer the brand they sell as well. seeing as you sell Legends it makes sense.

Ranger certainly has the fit and finish thing going for it, but at the end of the day it is all about how it rides and how it fishes. From just an engineering aspect, it would seem that the Skeeter would be a more stable FISHING platform, while the Ranger, if set up right and trimmed properly would offer a softer ride in big waves. My personal experience has been with a ranger sport r70 (17ft boat) and my Skeeter zx200 (19 1/2ft boat). Clearly the longer boat has given a much better experience, but for the size my little Ranger did well. Honestly, I think which is 'best' is too open a question. Just drive each one and see what fits your needs the best.

10-4 on rangers spearing waves, friend has a 22' ranger and I have had a few showers. And don't say he doesn't know how to drive it because he does.It always happens going with the wind with swells, can't get the nose up on a Ranger like you can a bug

In truth Skeeter and Ranger both make a very fine product. Personaly I would fish out of either boat, and would own either boat.
Drive it, check it out, I think you can't go wrong with either choice...
Make your best deal and what make you happy and buy it.....
Both look very sexy on the trailer and in the water, buy the boat you can get the best deal on

I thought the best boat was the one that's paid for.
