OkieBob,

Dunno about useful apps, but I do have a good boating accessory. It is a plastic container called a "lock & lock". It's watertight and will fit your phone, wallet, keys, etc. I used to have a big cup that I put my iPhone into, but it gathered a little bit of rain and that proved to be no good for the phone at all. Apple replaced it free of charge. I think the little geeks took pity on the old fart.

I have the android OS, but most apps have versions for both operating systems. I put two folders on my screen, Fishing and Weather.

Weather folder has several apps, but the best ones are Radar Now and The Weather Channel. Another good one is iMap.

Fishing folder has Navionics Lakes and Google Earth apps. It also has some web pages saved that do not have apps ( TFF forum, check current lake levels - http://wiid.twdb.state.tx.us/ims/resinfo/BushButton/lakeStatus.asp , plus some Oklahoma lake websites that I fish.

It’s not necessary for fishing, but recommend the free app – Google Sky. You could use it to see where the moon is relative to the horizon if you like fishing those times.

Guess I need to look closer at the Navionics apps as I see the one referenced here is $15 and I found one yesterday that was only $5 and another buddy told me it was only $10 so I'm confused. Also, with any of the Nav apps, can you mark a waypoint and if so, is their a way to transfer it to your boat GPS other than the obvious of inputing the coordinates? That might be another good ap?

Have to say I've been somewhat overwhelmed by this new phone and what all it can do. Really appreciate all the info you guys have sent and have already downloaded several suggestions.
If anyone has anymore please add them or pm me with them as I'm loading up my phone now.
Any more info on the Navonics ap please let me know that as well.
I'm a little curious why it's so popular.
Thanks to all.

Matt I think the helicopter is for line delivery after breaking off so many jigs. Look on the bright side Okie Bob is helping the economy and raising the lake level. Well maybe not the economy of the jig tyier.

When I got the Navionics maps app, the price was $10 euros. It converted to $13 or $14 U.S dollars. I think it downloads from England. It is well worth the price. It won't replace your sonar map chip, but you can look at lakes anytime, anyplace. I use it mostly for preplanning fishing trips.

Do you get the map content with the Navionics app as well or do you have to buy the maps separately?

How come I keep catching small fish when every product I buy is supposed to catch more and bigger fish?

You download the details for the area you want from within the app. There is no charge for the downloads once you purchase the app. Helps with initial download size and reduces storage used on your phone.
