I hav been fishing Lake Naconiche a good bit and I will tell you one thing...ive ran across some idiots out there. I had this one guy idle past me while I was fishing and he was so close that i could have thrown my lure over his boat...he had a 100yards of open water he could have moved out into...I dont really know if its an age thing or not I've had young and older do it before...I think that guy was a NEWBY anyway.

Didn't call you stupid, only your statement. Again I ask- which statement? If you say my statement was stupid and I made it, then technically you are saying that I am stupid because I made the statement- which basically is just my opinion that is only based on my reflection of things I have encountered. But I still don't know which statement I made that was stupid!? Please enlighten me, so I can elaborate, if necessary, as to why I stated what I said. Thank you!

Ahhh- this could be just one of many problems when on a body of water and thus one reason why people really need to talk to those with experience of boating as to what and what NOT to do. would this be a stupid statement?

One time when I was in the army I got to meet the army chief of staff. He told me something I will never forget. He said, "the army ain't what it use to be, and it never was." I'm under 34 and suspect the same is true for courtesy on the water. It ain't what it use to be, and it never was. Stew, that is probably the best quote I have ever heard.

Good communication is key, if you want to try and fish an area that is occupied, ask if it's okay. If the other person says no, simply go find another area.
This actually works and it's easy, why must we turn the simplest things into drama??? Is it really not that hard to ask another angler if it's cool to share the same water???
+100 I don't have the deed to any spot I am fishing but if I am sitting there and someone pulls up and shuts down and asked if they can share the spot I will always say yes of course.

Buy you one of those fishing shirts with logo's that don't sponsor you... a power pole... and yellow or white rod. They will see you as the dominant fisher and leave you alone. Just like a pack of dogs.
And I know who "Jeff" is.

What lake were you on OA1? if this was Conroe- then I would not be surprised- seems that a few folks that do fish tournaments here have a tendency to be a bit rude, especially the younger ones.
I have seen that there is a huge difference in attitude amongst fishing persons and AGE. The older wiser folks have a tendency to be a bit accepting and know how the unwritten rules are- while the kids (those under 34) seem to feel that they have the right to be somewhat anal and treat the older group (those over 45) with no respect.
But its not just on the lake I mentioned, this seems to be a prevalent thing amongst today's generation. Sad- many of us over the hump were raised to respect anothers place and space and to be polite.
Give me a break. It's ironic that the older folks were the ones that raised the younger ones. Too bad they didn't pass along all that wisdom... I've been cut off by more older guys than young guys, but I don't attribute it to age. I think there are simply more guys with bass boats over 45, but I haven't done an official poll. There are jerks in every age group. Young jerks become old jerks. Old people have been saying the same thing about the younger crowd for generations. I don't think this is any different.

If they ask if you are in a tournament... tell them you are in the Bass Master Baiter Classic Regional Sub-Division Semi-Finals.
And I know who "Jeff" is.

Just like a pack of dogs. Ha!! That's pretty funny. I was recently pre-fishing a tournament and had a guy run in on us. He even tossed his bait in the same bush I was fising. He obviously was a much more serious fisherman than me and really, really needed to see if a bass was in that bush so I just bit my toungue. I tend to be a believer in "what goes around, come around". So, the next day was the first day of the tourney and afterwards I noticed the fellow that ran in on us was talking to a group of guys at the same motel we were staying at. He looked a little worked up and was telling a story about some no good, SOB that ran in on him and caught a 6 pounder right out from under him. I just smiled and walked off. Gotta love it when things work out right!

I don't usually chime in on these posts but i just cant resist today. I think I've been crowded and cut off more by guys in 40+ age group than the young guys... Last weekend I was fishing into the back of a cove that barely had enough room for my boat to be back there and this boat motors up and starts trying to fish their way back in this pocket too. I could have hit them with a cast at any given time... I just shook my head and kept fishing. Just before that I was fishing down a bank with some boat houses on it and a guy pulled up and cut me off on the boat house i was obviously fishing towards not even 100 ft away... I was raised to respect others and to give people space on the water, but I agree, that concept is long gone I think. If I pull up to a cove or spot and there's somebody there I just turn around and go somewhere else, ecspecially if its a big lake....
