It was just a fad. I mean you just about have to get a whole new setup to throw that thing. How many people have a 8'6" heavy action rod in their arsenal ?

Well, fortunately, I already had a swimbait rod before the a-rig craze. What killed me was the average $25 bucks they wanted for this thing. Over time, the price has dropped and they designs have improved. It's definitely a tool that demands dedication to throw it all day long.

Do`nt throw it. Buddy of mine could`nt catch anything but 5-7lb strippers on it at Amistad 2 weeks ago. Pretty sorry bait.

i bought into the fad when it first come out and threw it a little. I never committed to it.i had kinda a sour attitude about it. coming into fall I started throwing it more and man do I kick myself for not using it more before. they are the real deal. they do catch fish if used where they should work. let me say this, if the spot makes sense that a fish will take this bait, then commit to throwing it and it will catch fish. I havent caught any big ones yet on it but i have to say that every largemouth Ive caught has hit it violently. fish it where and how it should be fished, give it an honest shot, and the results will change anyones mind about it. they do catch fish.

I've tried a couple of times... but for whatever reason I just don't like it. When it hits the water it sounds like a lawn chair hitting the water because of the size. One out of five casts causes the baits to tangle on themselves... and I've never caught anything on it but white bass. Add to this the cost and I'll just stick with a single bait or sometimes a donkey rig.

Well I bought 2 of them Yummers but not the mongo stick that everyone sez ya need. I set mine up with one of my older Abu 5601's with 30# braid mainline and a 20# flouro with my trusty 6'6 Ugly Stik. Since I let the drag off just a bit due to the weight of this behemoth I'm able to get it out there, but yeah the splash down sounds like a fat man doin a belly flop. I couldn't see how it was going to scrounge up fish
Well I was wrong- went out to the Houston mud hole by the house and tossed in in an area that I had just cruised over to see if there was anything- I let it sink til the line went slack then started to bring it in herky jerky style and 10' from the boat - WHAM- that hit felt huge! Hook set and reel in- I have 2 hooked- both 2-21/2#rs and even in the mud I was able to see 2 others following behind. I sadly had to let them sit on the carpet for a moment to unhook one guy who had 2 of the baits in his mouth, while the other had a good lip hook- he went out quick.
Tossed the rig again- did the same trick- hooked another- but this time its a frikkin striper about 3#..All in all and only on the water for a little over 2 hours I managed to boat out 7 all together 3 LMB's and 4 stripers.
I like it- but I think I will get me a mongo rod that has a bit more backbone than my Ugly Stik
The system works- I'll keep mine for now and think of different baits to put on it.
