What size wire would you run 150' to a 30 amp trailer breaker and a 20 amp plug?

Should I put a larger breaker for the trailer? camper.

8ga. Dont use more than a 30 for the trailer, bigger breaker is not needed unless its a 50a service in the trailer. Trailerz are either 30 or 50, u probably have 30

#10 should be fine as long as it's not over 100'

At 100' with #10 your looking at a voltage drop of 2.60% for 30 amp. Rule is you like to not have a voltage drop over 3%.

You should be fine, still use a 30 amp breaker.

I will by tying into a 100 amp breaker at the meter. 30 on the other end where the trailer is.

then your good, but use the 8ga wire. it is not that much more and if you end up with a load your voltage could drop even more, buy romex rated for burial at lowes (they will sell ya bulk but buy the roll).
bury it at least 12" deep and if you can use the pvc conduit to bury it in, this keeps a shovel from causing problems later.

I wouldn't tap or just tie onto the 100 amp if there is wire already on it. That is a NO, NO in the industry. If it's a meter base combo, then why not just stick a 30 amp breaker in there and do it right?

Hate to say it but HE wired directly from the 100 amp to his trailer.

Said the breakers in the trailer would be sufficient.

I know I would not have done this.

And he could afford to do it right too!!

Is what I would do if your going to use the 100amp and be legal would be to use the 100 amp, run #3 that's rated for 100amps and use a 30amp fuseable disconnect for the trailer. You then have a disconnect point within sight or 50ft which is required per NEC. Plus all your wire is then protected.

If you use a 20amp plug and 30 amp fuse/breaker and pull 21-30 amps or have a high inrush current your plug is not rated for that and could cause some issues.
