Rapala. Besides all of the other species that have been mentioned, I've caught reef snapper, grouper, snook, jack crevalle, tarpon, barracuda, dolphin and even a sailfish.

I do love the Beetle spin, CastMaster, and Mepp's spinner... but... I've caught almost every kind of saltwater and freshwater fish on a little white Senko... fish it like a plastic worm or a jerk bait... fast or slow. What's the marble on the line?
How come I keep catching small fish when every product I buy is supposed to catch more and bigger fish?

Well being new to all this and trying to learn as much as possible I studied this thread really close and thought I might pass on some interesting statistics. I compiled the numbers of what lure has the most votes and then what category has the most votes. Here they are:
1. Rat-L-Trap = 13 votes 2. Road Runners = 11 votes 3. Beetle Spin = 8 votes 4. Rooster Tail = 8 votes
1. Spinner Type Baits = 41 votes 2. Crank Type Baits = 18
So I think I'm gonna go out and by myself some Rat-L-Traps and Road Runners. Can you guys tell me what the best rod/line for these lures are and what's the proper way to fish with them?
How come I keep catching small fish when every product I buy is supposed to catch more and bigger fish?

Very nice vote tallying! How many crappie jig/ jig & grub/ jig & plastic entries did you see? As far as line goes, I would fish small Rat-L-Traps on 8lb test (Sufix) and the roadrunners on 6lb test (Trilene XL). The traps you can cast and reel, yo-yo, burn & fall or just pop them out of the tops of grass and weed beds. The roadrunners are best fished slow. I tend to fish them just above bottom or just a few feet off bottom.

Very nice vote tallying! How many crappie jig/ jig & grub/ jig & plastic entries did you see? I didn't put those down because I didn't know what a lot of them were or what category they go in. If you answer those questions I'll add them to the main list. crappie jig = 6 votes slab = 5 votes kastmaster = 2 votes sassy shad = 3 votes curly tail grub on jig head = 2 votes The rest of these only had one vote each: berkley powerbait gulp variety minnow senko sassy shad shyster (I imagine is shad?) grub banjo minnow gig blue fox vibrax fluke like bait scrounger with albino fluke Lit'l Fishie - Original 1.5" (White Pearl/Gray Back) johnson sprite super duper Pop-r (I know it's topwater lure-is it considered crankbait?) leadhead jig inline spinner little george wooly bugger

Crappie jigs, curly tail (or other grubs) on a jighead, sassy shad are all the same. Crappie jigs for a lack of a better term.
Kastmasters & slabs are spoons.

Clouser Minnow.
I've caught over 2 dz species on this fly. It may get criticized as a glorified jig but it works.

We fish the tailwaters on the Tennessee river and nothing comes close to a locally made spoon called a Foley Spoon. We have caught every species of Catfish, bass, pearch, strip and most of the trash fish that swim in these waters big and small. I guess any thing that will eat a threadfin shad.

Yep... Caught cats, bass, whites, crappie, perch, drum with em... I once threw em at the coast when I looked in my tackle box and had no more spoons... Caught like five different species in half an hour...

Slab
I've caught stripers, hybrid stripers, white bass, large mouth, crappie, catfish, perch, shad, cans, bags, sticks, rocks, and all kinds of other stuff on slabs. That is hilarious!
