I'm thinking about the 50's vs: today.

For example:

In the 50's when we caught fish, we usually kept them. Put them on a stringer so almost all pictures were hold up a stringer full of fish so naturally, "boy, that's a nice stringer you've got there'>

Today--- Great sack of fish

50's- We tried to figure out the bottom of the lake by a rapid trolling with deep diving crankbaits.

Today---Just check your electronics.

50's - You wanted to fish in one spot, you threw out the anchor or possibly 2 anchors. Then invariably you'd have to try and dig a hook out of the anchor rope.

Today- Just drop the power poles down.

50's - Level wind reels with rayon line. Some had no level wind guard so if you backlashed, about 1/2 the time you line would get cut completely into two pieces.

Today - Level wind with all the guards you need plus internal and external brakes to virtually eliminate backlashes (for some. Most of us can still create a "birds nest" on occassion).

50's Boats - 14-16' Lone Star (made in TX as you expect from the name) or Alumacraft with a 15-25 HP motor.

Today- Who knows where it's going to stop from 21' and 300 HP.

What are some others??????? cheers cheers fish

Great point, but Sooner--remember how hyped and futuristic the fiberglass rods were over the old steel and/or bamboo!!

Yes, I do. Have a couple of bamboo rods from circa 1910 on the wall.
