Fished the Colorado River from 9am till 1pm. I found the Rios! Fishing started out very slow. I only had one small Bluegill the first 45 minutes of fishing. I found a cove and noticed a small stream running into it. There was a slight current where the stream ended at the cove. The Rios were stacked in the cove and I ended up catching over 30 nice Rios. The Rios ranged from the 8 to 10 inch range. The bite was very aggressive and all of the fish were healthy and fat. I ended the day by stopping on my home at the Little Blanco River. The fishing there was slow. Caught a nice Green, two small Bluegills and a nice Redear. All fish were released to fight again. Fish were caught using float techniques with worms. River Rios in Texas. It just don't get any better! fish

Thanks "newflyguysa" for the reply. The Colorado is a good river to fish. I have several spots between Marble Falls and Austin to fish it. I also love fishing it in the Columbus area. fish

Nice Rios Chuck! thumb If anyone can find Rios you can. I saw the latest forecast and looks like we will have a lot cooler weather Sunday. Judging by what I have been reading it looks like the Rio bite is almost over. What do you think? hmmm

Side Note: I have not caught a Rio on Mcqueeney that last two times I have fished it. Prior to that I was catching em just about every time. eeks

Thanks Curtis. The Rios are going to be scattered after Sunday for sure. They will be a lot harder to find and not as active. peep If it warms back up in October we should be able to get a few more. Looks like to me with these latest two early cold snaps that the fall Rio bite is going to be cut short. eeks Depending how cold it gets this winter will be a major factor in what type of Rio bite we will have next year. Remember the milder the winter the better the bite. hmmm The last two winters have been on the mild side. Hopefully we can get another one. Gotta a feeling this winter just might be a cold one. taz We just have to wait and see. nuts

Thanks "Tun3R" for the reply. I am still finding Rios. eeks They are definitely scattered and harder to find. taz I am finding em in protected coves and in water 4 to 8 feet deep. The bite is aggressive when you find em. hooked

Thanks Chuck for the info. I know after this last little weather change not only the Rios but the decent Sunfish have been harder to find on Mcqueeney as well. I guess we just have to wait and see after Sunday if there are any Rios that can be found. hide2

Thanks "Gitter" for the reply. cheers This has been a great year for nailing Rios on the Rivers. The Guadalupe, Blanco, Medina, and the Colorado Rivers have all had good results. hooked Rios will be harder to find due to the recent cold snap. Hopefully a few are still around to give the ultra lights another fight. boxing
