Trinity off university is good for both bass and cats. Can get really muddy/murky after a good rain though.

Any recommended bait? I prefer chicken liver, homemade stink bait, or fresh shad but I doubt there are any so just try a variety until something bites?

For bass, a weightless worm, texas riged worm, and carolina rig worm will produce bass. ALso for catfish, live bait is the best if you can get some perferably shad but nighcrawlers boutgh at walmart work too. Stink bait is also alright.

Try the river right by The Woodshed. Saw some kayak guys catch some nice cats in that area on shad.

That's the spot I was talking about deerstangler. Fresh shad if you can find it. If not just catch you some small bream. There are some big cats in that section. I dont target them but have seen several caught from there.

Instead of trying to catch shad, try shrimp. It's the magic bait, everything that swims eats shrimp

Try walking west to the other side of the bridge. About half way to the center of the river there are a few grass beds. IF you keep heading further west there is a water run off/discharge that has also been good. I've had success with lipless cranks, squarebills, jigs, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits.
