I am new to catfishing. Have been a very avid bass man for the last twenty years. Catfishing has been awesome!!! my question is bait. I have been chasing blues with good success but my success has been limited on finding good sized shad. Threadfins work well and are relatively plentiful.I am having trouble getting gizzard shad. I live at cypress springs but fish cooper a lot. Any help would be humbly appreciated.

Sometimes if all I can get is smaller threadfins and I really want to load the hook up with bait I will put two shad on the hook. If all else fails try that.

Welcome to a new addiction. Match the hatch on the area you're fishing. If the fish are eating 4-6" thread fins use em. Look for holes in the creeks or lit boat docks. I know over here at Eagle Mountain you only have to throw the net where there's water. I've never seen the shad like they are this year.

Spillway at Cooper is good if you can keep the small channels out of your net.
