Hey guys, I get to Fork once or twice a year. I am taking my 12 year old son (que the sentimental music so you all will feel like helping me out....) Sunday and Monday. I have read recently about some healthy hydrilla that has popped up on the lake. I am not looking for spots, but if anyone wants to let me know where to look for the hydrilla, then it will save me a lot of looking time. Any other words of advice would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to a couple of days on the great lake where every cast could be "the one"

running creek on the east side of the lake all the way up north had the most grass last time i was there but that was a month ago, there could be several spots with plenty by now. from my experience the areas that held grass before it died will grow it the best when it comes back, so if you had an old spot that had grass check it out, i'd bet it's back. good luck

I heard that Coffee Creek holds some fantastic hydrilla. It's on the northeast part of the lake. I think you have to travel for quite some time with no boat lane to get there though. Take it slowly and do not try to run it in the dark.

The guys are correct. Both coffee and running creek have grass. Most of the creeks have grass in the shallow areas in the back. But I wouldn't necessarily focus that far back. There are good patches on shallow flats in a number of creeks. They should all hold a fish or two. Tons of shad shallow. Keep your eyes open for these two keys, put your trolling motor down and cover some water. Good luck!

Great info everyone.

Appreciate the help.

I will report back, hopefully with a picture of a nice bass held up by a smiling son.

How late in the season does the hydrilla normally stay healthy before dying back?

Depends on a lot of things but typically it's January before it really dies out.

Never fished that far north east on the lake (coffee/running)
Good boat lanes up there? Anything to watch out for?

Thanks to all

Depends how cold the water gets, and with our mild winters it will just go dormant until spring.

you can run almost to the bridge in coffee, shut it down at the last buoy and you'll be fine. the last buoy is just before you get to the bridge.
