Took a much needed day off yesterday to do some fishing. Took my brother-in-law and 2 buddies down to meet AWESOME guide Steve Barnes at Port O'Connor for some incredible fishing! I can honestly say, other than the TFF tuna trip I had to pleasure to join, this was the best day of fishing in my 44 years on this earth. We had to do a little looking thanks to the front and all of the runoff from the weekend storms, but Steve found 'em, and they wore us out! I mean, by midday, I was almost disappointed when the rod near me bowed over, knowing I was going to have to do yet another battle with a colossal redfish. All in all, we easily caught 50 fish, including blacktip sharks, spinner sharks, gafftop, jack crevalle, and 35 or 40 reds. Thank you, Steve, and I cannot wait to get together next summer to go after some of those tarpon or amberjack--maybe my arms will have recovered by then!

Wow Randy! Now I see why all the salt guys say once you fish salt you'll never want to fish fresh water again!

Wow Randy! Now I see why all the salt guys say once you fish salt you'll never want to fish fresh water again! Well....I haven't sworn off the bass just yet, Kelly, but I am starting to watch the classified ads for a bay boat a little more closely these days!

Those are monsters! I've caught smaller ones near Tampa Bay and in Port A and they weren't near that big - can't imagine the fight those bad boys put up.
