Hello everyone, just joined. I live in Waco tx do a lot of fishing up and down the brazos and some at the lake. Have had lots of luck on the brazos. On Sept 18,2012 Waco city council purposed a speed limit to most of the Brazos river, bc of the number of kayakers and paddlers. The building of Baylor stadium also contributed to this. http://www.wacotrib.com/news/170129236.htmlNow don't get me wrong I'm all for saftey. BUT 5MPH! Its a long way At 5mph from ramp to dam. So I wanted to get some opinions on this subject. So plllleaasee post up your opinions on this. Btw prob the best fishing is done towards the lake Waco dam imo.

I bank fish on the Brazos at East Cameron Park...Haven't had a lot of luck yet, but not giving up...Trying to find a flatbottom boat so I can run some jugs on the Bosque up near MCC...
If it isn't your's, DON'T take it If it isn't true, DON'T say it If it isn't right, DON'T do it!

Hey cooter54 thanks for your reply. I put in at mcc most of the time. Mights start putting in at the new park. I set some jugs, go do a little bass fishing and then check them when I leave. So the 5mph speed limit doesn't really affect you but I garantee you wont like it when you do find that flat bottom you looking for. if Anyone else has ever fished on the Bosque and Brazos they know its a long way towards the dam and at 5MPH!! come on give us a break!

If that is true about 5MPH i'm in trouble because my boat idles faster than that and my brakes don't work.

If that is true about 5MPH i'm in trouble because my boat idles faster than that and my brakes don't work. Thats why we need to fight this. I've been going by the river with a petition. I also have some at local marine shops. Even had som kayakers and wake boarders sign it. Basically saying 5mph is ridiculous. Wowkacui, Thats where i seet my jugs and leave to do a little bass fishng. If you get a flat bottom boat now your gonna be upset if you can't go over 5mph.

I plan on making it to the next city council meeting hope others from Waco area can make it.
The second reading on the ordinance will be Tuesday, October 2nd at 6:00 p.m. There will not be a public hearing on this item, so if you want to voice concerns, it will have to be done under Hearing of visitors

Meeting went well tonight. They did not vote on it yet and will be an agenda on the next meeting. We will take the petitions back to some of the local marine shops and hopefully get more sigs. Hopefully I'll be on the river this weekend......
Thanks

Welcome to the forum. And that sounds like a big bag of BS to me. I have never fished up that way cause I don't live up that way but do they really think that everyone with a flat bottom or bass boat is that inconsiderate? I find it hard to believe . But it only takes a few to complain to mess things up.

The news media is pointing the finger at the wake boarders, skiers, pwc...
