I decided to do some fishing last Saturday night. I knew it was going to rain but I was prepared with my Gore-Tex rainsuit and waterproof boots. I didn't know that it was going to be a Forrest Gump kind of rain though. I got on the water about sunset and had good fishing for the first two hours. Then it started to rain. Big 'ol fat rain. Sometimes it even seemed to come up from underneath. So, I sought shelter in an unoccupied dock. I was very happy to find out that this dock, unlike many docks, didn't leak. I eased the boat into the slip as far as I could to get away from the sideways rain. When it became obvious that the monsoon was going to last a while I decided lay down to take a nap. I carry a plastic mat to lay down on for these occasions so I won't have to lay down on wet carpet. ( I do a lot of night fishing.) I pulled the hood of the rainsuit over my eyes to block out the lightning flashes and went to sleep. A couple hours later I had this thought, "Why is my elbow wet"? My second groggy thought of the new day was, "Why is my left side wet"? I thought that I might have rolled off of the mat so I put my hand down expecting to feel wet carpet. Instead my hand went under about four inches of water. The entire deck of my boat was flooded!
Here's what happened so you won't make the same mistake. When I pulled the boat all the way into the dock the bow of the boat went under the floor of the dock. During the downpour the lake rose well over two feet forcing the back of the boat to rise but since the bow was pinned under the dock it was pushed under water. I was lucky. The flooded batteries didn't short out and I was able to get the boat started, back out of the dock and limp back to the ramp ( no way it was getting on plane with that much water) to load my very heavy boat onto the trailer and pull the plug. I took about an hour for all the water to drain. I found out later that the lake received 8-10 inches of rain that night.

? why did your bilge pump(s) not come on? might want to take a look into that.
I have two in my boat and one will come on when the water gets deep enough even when the power switch is not on.
I have also heard of people carrying an extra bilge in the boat with gator clips so they can just clamp them to a battery for an extra bilge.

Did you try a drop shot in the drivers seat area? Good cover under the console!
