I am planning a trip down to Rockport/Port A area to fish Thursday night and Friday morning. Where's the best place to try and catch a Bull Red? Goose island pier, Copano Bay pier, Bob Hall Pier, one of the jetties? Haven't done this trip before, I'd even hire a cheap guide Friday morning or Thursday evening if I could find one. PM me. Any current info would be appreciated. Thanks,

Yep, I would concentrate on jetties if you don't have a boat. Packery Channel or the jetties in Port A.

Bob Hall Pier had Kings and Pompano running this morning. At night close to the beach, like casting distance, hundreds of specs have been milling about under the pier. Tarpon have been caught during the day with slide lines also.

Packery, Port A jetties. End of the old Fina Docks on an incoming if you have a boat. jetty boat from Fisherman's wharf is an option, too.

We were there this weekend. Weather sucked but on the last day we saw a charter called "Marlin Queen" hook up w/ at least 3 bull reds in a 5 min period. They were very near the North jetty. By the time we were able to drop anchor and get it to hold in 15kt winds they were gone.

I was down last last weekend and went out with a guide and we kept a limit of reds and threw 3 back that we're over the slot. If interested let me know and I'll send you guide's info.

The Marlin Queen is still around? I thought she sailed to Niagra Falls over 20 years ago and was renamed? I believe she was doing charters out of Port A 40 years ago.

Lite-Liner, where is, "End of the old Fina Docks on an incoming?" I'm headed down there on the 12th of this month and I can't wait to try and put some red's in the boat.

Sure is a nice boat, if you ever need company to go down to the coast with ill ride along with you, might even help with a little gas money too.

Thanks Scott42!, that's what I got planned for later this month. Me and a couple of buddies are splitting all costs 3 ways, and taking a mancation to Port A, for 7 days of fishing.
