Has anyone put plastic glides on their bunk boards....and is it a good idea? I talked to a guy who has them and he said it really makes it easier to move your boat with the winch. Is there anything bad about using them?
Thanks

From what I have read on the forums about these they can leave scratches on the hull...

They have been known to dump the boat on the ramp, if you don't keep the tow strap tight putting it in and pulling it up the ramp..

If you are going to use the 1.5 inch wide strips, you may be causing harm to your hull by decreasing the surface area that the boat is resting on. If you are talking about an aluminum hull, don't bother, the teflon strips gauld causeing more problems than what it's worth. In essence if you want your boat to load and unload easier......spray the bunks with a silicone spray next time you unload it. Also a trailer that is not adjusted correctly will cause unloading and loading problems. Save your money.

Thanks to everyone for giving me the advice against the plasic guides....I was going to do it, but not now. I might try the silicone spray on teh bunks.
This is what is great about the forum

I used 4" guides that I made from Starboard. Works great. I can almost idle up on the trailer. As said before, make sure you have the bow hook fastened going up and down the ramp. By the way it is an aluminum boat but the screws are counter sunk.
I need to change my password.
